Deborah Arnold : Biographical Notes
In addition to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Deborah Arnold earned a Diploma in Sculpture at Ottawa School of Art. She also studied dance and music at Bennington College in Vermont, theater direction and production at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, and was involved in the summer studio program at the Cleveland Institute of Art. In several different years she had studio residences in Pietrasanta, Italy where she worked intensively in traditional materials such as Carrara marble. She is a member of the Sculpture Society of Canada, the International Sculpture Center, Washington, DC, and the National Capital Network of Sculptors, Ottawa.
Since 1989 she has completed a number of commissions, including for the Pagnier Collection, Ottawa; the Zaitzeff Collection, West Vancouver; the Teare Family Memorial, Cleveland, Ohio; as well as other collections in Almonte, Ontario where she maintains her studio. In 2001 she completed a public art commission titled The Power of Three, now installed in Almonte. In 2010, The National Cemetery of Canada purchased one of her recent works, Inner Egg.
Deborah Arnold's work has been exhibited at the Ottawa School of Art Gallery, Catwalk Gallery, Corridor Gallery, and Eclectica Gallery in Kingston, Ontario; Telpaz Gallery, Kanata, Ontario, Calligrammes Gallery in Ottawa; The Sculpture Society of Canada in Toronto; The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Snapdragon Gallery, and twice at Constitution Square, Ottawa.
